1. Be A Novice Longer

In our excitement to become an expert entrepreneur, we often try to rush through the early stage of being a novice and miss many of the benefits of curiosity and inspiration this stage presents.

It's when the seasoned entrepreneur says to us that they miss the early days of starting a business what they are really saying to us is they miss the excitement and energy of being a novice. In fact, they are jealous of our ability to be a novice.

2. The Repeatable, Replicable, Franchisable Model Of Scale

Does the word franchise make you cringe as an entrepreneur, founder, or startup?

When you hear franchise do you think of McDonald's, Pizza Hut, Taco Bell, …? Because of this, you may have missed out on a crucial piece of learning you can gain from them on your business.

Most businesses begin at the repeatable stage of growth. This is the stage where you know what needs to be done and you can personally repeat it. There are probably many manual steps that require personal insight and knowledge, but you’re able to do it consistently with effort and work. Though it’s not the fastest process, it is effective.

The second stage of scale is the replicable stage of growth. This is the stage where you are able to show someone else how the sausage is made. With the right amount of time and hands-on training, they are able to repeat your steps and possibly take notes which can be documented later. Your knowledge is no longer a mystery, but it still requires some luck to make it happen by another person.

And it’s at the replicable stage most businesses cease to learn from a franchise on how they are able to take the exponential leap of growth so many businesses are looking for.

In the franchisable stage business practices are easily transferred to others. The expertise, systems, and experiences learned have been distilled into actionable guidebooks. Because of this others are able to implement the practices with little to no intervention. Even if you are not looking to franchise your business you should be looking at how you can leverage the expertise they have figured out in order to achieve your own massive scale.
