1. The Inconvenient No

As entrepreneurs, we’re told to learn from failure. And, when we hear No we should treat it as an opportunity to improve, gain new insight, and forge ahead.

What you’re not told is every No is not as convenient as the next.

It’s easier to hear No when there is prosperity and success. But when schedules are falling behind or our goals aren’t being met it’s inconvenient to hear No. Inconvenient No’s are more emotionally charged than their counterpart the convenient No.

It’s easy to talk about hearing No in the abstract, but it’s difficult to put into practice. Building a strategy of hearing No to include the convenience of the No and all its emotionally charged components will empower you to be more successful in maintaining momentum until you hear Yes again.

2. Prioritized Lists Are Not The Problem

Getting things accomplished often has little to do with having a prioritized list.

Yet, we assume because we made a list this was the reason the work was done.

And, when tasks are not finished and checked off our list we spend tremendous effort reworking and questioning the list wasting valuable energy because it wasn’t the problem.

The reason the work gets done is it satisfies a priority and accomplishing this priority (even if challenging, uncomfortable, or awkward) is the reward. The list is only a reminder of what our priorities are.

When you’re having trouble completing the work on your prioritized list it’s because of the accompanying emotions surrounding the work and this is what you need to address to make progress.
