Stop Making To-Do Lists

Entrepreneur Coach Goal Oriented

It's Friday, what worked well for you this week?  It all depends on your frame.  This is why I put together two tips for success and a soulful playlist to close it out.  Enjoy the weekend!

Ready, then let's do this!

What worked well for you this week?

When I meet a new founder and they learn I coach entrepreneurs they almost always ask for a quick tip.  Here's the one tip everyone should know and it starts with a simple question  "What worked well for you this week?"

Because many entrepreneurs are driven, focused individuals they answer this question by rattling off a list of tasks they completed this week.  "I worked on the roadmap, I emailed our investors, I finished ..."

Instead of focusing on the tasks completed focus instead on the aspects of yourself which made the week a success.  Asking them to focus in this way I hear answers like: I am creative, I am driven, I am passionate, etc.

By focusing on the qualities you bring to the work you'll find the strengths you can use for the tasks to come you might struggle with.

Take another pass at the question now.  "What worked well for you this week?"

Stop Making To-Do Lists

To-Do list, a list of tasks or errands to complete.

Goal list, a list of ambitions or desires to achieve.

When you start the week by making a list of tasks or errands to complete, then you end the week with a list of tasks you've completed.  But, when you start the week by making a list of ambitions you want to achieve, then you end the week with a list of ambitions you've achieved.

If you want to be goal-oriented, then focus on goals and not on tasks.

Soul Session

I've been enjoying the past several weeks listening to music and writing this newsletter.  I realized it's not just five songs I'm sending you, but a soul session.  Turn it up and let me know which ones you liked at Mark!
